EXTON, PA — The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office issued Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) a patent for technology that improves the accuracy and efficiency of orbit determination for satellites with GPS receivers. This adds to the company’s 12 existing patents, which protect AGI’s analysis software for land, sea, air, and space.

AGI’s U.S. patent 7,050,002, entitled “GPS Carrier Phase Measurement Representation and Method of Use,” is based on an innovation by engineers James Wright, William Chuba, and Richard Hujsak. Sequential GPS Doppler carrier phase count measurements are used for precision sequential determination of position and velocity of a GPS receiver—such as for orbit determination and geolocation—with minimum throughput time. With this new AGI technology, real-time LEO orbit determination performance is enabled with an optimal sequential filter; near-real-time performance is supported by an optimal fixed-lag smoother.
